Ian Strange: Suburban is a multifaceted photography, film and installation exhibition created by New York-based Australian artist Ian Strange. It can be seen at National Gallery of Victoria until mid-September 2013.

For two years, New York-based artist Ian Strange traveled across the United States to acquire houses that were either abandoned or about to be demolished to make room for mansions, and defaced them. The result is an exhibition of photographs and three video loops that interrogate the great American dream of life in the suburbs. The dream is “one that’s slipping away,” Strange says.
